Hate Votes

For many voters in this coming election, the decision of who they should vote for will be determined by who they hate less. Unfortunately for Obama, the many disappointed Hillary supporters hate McCain less. There's probably no logical explanation; emotion transcends logic.

I'm not sure you can prove your post -- but anyway, I have a more logistical request. The red background / blue text is a nifty idea but it's very, very hard to read.

I second the request for a color change -- very hard to read! And I'll also say that this may or may not be true -- what kind of evidence can you provide to make the case that this is, indeed, how voters make decisions? We'll address just these kind of issues as the semester progresses, but for now you might recast this as a hypothesis, and think through for the reader how would would go about gathering evidence and marshalling arguments to support your claim.

Oh, that's MUCH better!

I'm still in search of more support, but for the time being let me turn your attention to the most quoted line of Hillary's address at the DNC: "No way, no how, NOT John McCain." As Colbert so beautifully put it, "She's clearly behind Not John McCain." I think democrats were hoping for more outward support for Obama??

There's been a lot of punditry about "did Hillary say enough / did Hillary support Obama enough / did Hillary encourage party unity / etc." I think I've actually heard a variation of that question on every news station.

That said, before railing against the media for being so boring, you might want to look at that full quote: ""No way. No how. No McCain. Barack Obama is my candidate. And he must be our president."

Now, we can debate whatever we want, but let's be honest. That's a 100% endorsement without reservations. That's just the facts. I don't really know what else there is to argue about.

Was Hillary's line taken from a mad lib? That's the most unenthusiastic endorsement, given at a party's national convention that I have ever heard.

Have you heard a lot of convention speeches? It sounds pretty par for the course to me.
